Most WordPress Sites Are Slow For One Reason

They're built on a stack of page builders and plugins that each add their own CSS and JavaScript. The result loads slowly, breaks on updates, and is miserable to edit.

We build WordPress the boring way: a clean theme, only the plugins you genuinely need, and content structured so you can update it without fear of breaking the layout.

Edit Without Fear

Child themes and minimal plugins, so WordPress core updates don't take the site down.

SEO-Ready Structure

Clean markup, schema, fast templates and sensible URLs from day one.

Mobile-First

Built for phones first, because that's where most of your traffic already is.

Handover & Training

A walkthrough of your admin so you're not dependent on us for text changes.

In practice

What a WordPress build actually involves

The list above is the summary. Here is what each of those lines means once we are in the code.

A custom theme, not a builder canvas

A page builder ships with your site forever: every page carries its stylesheets and scripts whether it needs them or not, and the layout lives in database records rather than templates. We build the theme itself, so the browser downloads only what the design uses.

Only the plugins that earn their place

Every plugin is code someone else maintains running inside your site, and each one can conflict on an update or quietly lose support. We keep the list short — security, forms, caching, SEO — and build the rest into the theme, which leaves a much shorter list of suspects when something does break.

Content areas shaped around your content

Editable regions are defined per template, so you fill in labelled fields rather than dragging boxes around a canvas. Changing a heading or swapping an image cannot collapse the layout, and someone who has never touched WordPress can update a page after a short walkthrough.

The groundwork underneath

Clean URLs, a unique title and meta description per page, a sensible heading hierarchy, schema markup, an XML sitemap, compressed images, SSL and caching. On a rebuild we also map the old URLs to the new ones, so links and bookmarks people already have keep working.

Process

How the build runs

A clear four-stage build, so you always know what we need from you, what is being built, and exactly what you'll be able to edit yourself once it's live.

  1. Step 01

    Scope & sitemap

We agree the page list and what each page has to do — up to 7 pages on the Business build, plus a full CMS on the CMS build — so the theme is shaped around your content instead of a template.

  2. Step 02

    Custom theme build

We build a clean custom theme with only the plugins you genuinely need, rather than stacking a page builder's CSS and JavaScript onto every page.

  3. Step 03

    Content & structure

Your text and images go into structured content areas, with clean markup, schema and sensible URLs, so editing a page later never breaks the layout.

  4. Step 04

    Handover & training

We walk you through the admin dashboard so you can update text, images and posts yourself, and use a child theme so WordPress core updates don't take the site down.

Getting started

What we need from you to start

Builds stall waiting on content more often than for any other reason.

  • The page list. The Business Website covers up to 7 pages and the CMS Website builds on that, with extra pages available as a paid add-on — so it is worth settling before we start rather than halfway through.
  • The words for each page. Rough text is fine; we handle structure and headings. What slows a build is empty pages waiting on copy nobody has written. Content writing is an optional add-on.
  • Images and brand files. Original photographs rather than versions pulled off the old site, your logo — vector if you have it — and your brand colours.
  • Domain, hosting and DNS access, plus admin access to the current site if this is a rebuild, so we can export existing content and record the live URLs to redirect.
  • One person who can approve. Revisions are counted in rounds — two on the Business Website, three on the CMS Website — so consolidated feedback goes much further than the same notes arriving piecemeal from four people.

Inclusions, revision counts and add-ons for every tier are set out on our website package pricing page.

Fit

Who this suits — and when something else fits better

WordPress is the right answer often, not always. Cheaper for everyone if we say so before the quote.

WordPress earns its keep when content changes. If you publish — news, case studies, new service pages — or if more than one person needs to update the site without going through a developer, a CMS build pays for itself in small edits alone. Examples are in our recent project work.

Where we would point you somewhere else:

  • A small brochure site that rarely changes. A Starter Website from $899AUD through our website design and development service is less to build and less to maintain than a CMS you will not log into.
  • You are selling products online. That is a store, not a brochure site with a payment button bolted on — see e-commerce website design.
  • The real problem is a workflow. Quoting, job tracking, a customer portal, stock living in three spreadsheets — those belong in custom PHP development, quoted per project.
  • You mainly need appointments. If the site exists to fill a calendar, start with online booking systems.
Why people call us

Common problems this solves

The ordinary, unglamorous reasons businesses replace a WordPress site.

“It takes forever to load on a phone”

Usually a builder plus a decade of plugins, each adding stylesheets and scripts to every page, alongside uncompressed images straight off a camera. Rebuilding the theme removes the cause instead of layering another optimisation plugin over it.

“Every text change means an email and an invoice”

A price, a phone number, a staff photo — none of that should need a developer. The CMS build makes those edits yours, with a walkthrough of the admin at handover.

“The site looks fine but nobody finds it”

A build gives you the technical foundation — speed, crawlable structure, clean markup, schema, en-AU targeting. Visibility on top of that is earned over time through content and relevance, and nobody can honestly guarantee a position on Google. If you want it pursued deliberately, that is our ongoing SEO service, not the build.

“Enquiries arrive after hours and go cold”

A contact form is passive; it waits. If most enquiries land outside business hours, an AI chatbot for lead capture can answer the obvious questions and take details while you are asleep.

Frequently asked questions

  • WordPress builds start from $2,199 AUD for a Business Website (up to 7 pages) and $2,999 AUD for a CMS Website, which adds a full content management system on top of everything in Business. WooCommerce stores start from $4,999 AUD. These are starting prices — final pricing may vary depending on design requirements, number of pages, features, integrations, content and customisation.
  • We choose the WordPress setup according to the project. That may mean a custom theme when maximum control matters, or a carefully configured visual builder when simple client editing is the priority. In either case, unnecessary plugins and frontend weight are kept to a minimum.
  • Yes — that's the point of the CMS package. You get an admin dashboard, structured content areas and a handover walkthrough so you can update text, images and blog posts yourself.
  • Yes. We audit the current site, plan redirects and metadata carefully to reduce the risk of losing organic visibility, then rebuild. Some ranking movement is normal after any redesign.
  • If your pages will barely change once they are live, the Business Website (up to 7 pages, from $2,199 AUD) is usually enough. If you plan to publish posts, add case studies, or have staff editing content regularly, take the CMS Website (from $2,999 AUD) — it adds the admin dashboard, blog and news management, dynamic pages and media management on top of the Business build.
  • That is your call. The site is yours at handover with no monthly licence to keep it running, so you can maintain it in-house. Ongoing maintenance — plugin and core updates, backups and monitoring — is an optional paid add-on, as are hosting, domain registration and business email.
